Senior Men’s Club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will have Simply Strings on May 6 at the YMCA. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for an informal social gathering followed by the presentation at 10. Upcoming presentations include FFA air traffic controller James Tompkins on May 13 and Mission Aviation Fellowship’s Peter Santana on May 20.

Fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a mask. Nonvaccinated individuals are requested to wear a mask. For more information, visit smensclub.org.

Sewickley council meeting

Sewickley council will meet at 7 p.m. May 10 at the borough building, 601 Thorn St. Meeting agendas are usually available online the day of the meeting at sewickleyborough.org.

Remake Learning Day

Sewickley Academy invites families to Connect with Computer Science 6-8 p.m. May 18, on campus in the Events Center. Kids and parents can explore multiple stations focusing on many different areas of robotics and programming. There will be grade-level opportunities to engage hands-on with various coding software and languages as well as a variety of robots. This free, all-ages event is a part of the Southwestern PA regional division of the Remake Learning Days Across America festival. Registration is required at remakelearningdays.org.

Old Economy Village

Old Economy Village in Ambridge, will hold its Garden Mart on May 7 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and will feature a variety of heirloom to plants for purchase. As part of Beaver County History Weekend, this event is free to the public.

History will come alive for visitors of all ages May 14-15 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for the annual Hands-on History event. There will be several demonstrations and attendees will be able to try a variety of 19th-century crafts and trades, such as blacksmithing, printing, cooking, textile production, laundry and more. It will be regular admission and tickets are available at the Feast Hall.

Rummage sale

The United Methodist Women will host a Rummage Sale for Missions from 3-7 p.m. May 6 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 7 at the Sewickley United Methodist Church, 337 Broad St. Gently used household items, seasonal clothing, shoes, books, puzzles and much more will be available.

Enter using Door 10 from the driveway off Thorn Street.

All proceeds from the sale are used to fund UMW mission projects. For more information, contact Kristine Swaney at 412-741-2092.

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet May 11 at the Eat’n Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Speakers will be Jim Stossel of LPL Financial and Bernie Slutiak of Insurance Consultants of Pittsburgh.
