The after-school group, Club 345, runs from 3:45-5 p.m. on Wednesdays. This is for students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Throughout the school year, kids will enjoy snacks, great conversations, games, Bible lessons and hands-on activities that teach skills they can use to serve others — like craft making, cooking, flower arranging and more. Pumpkins of all sizes and shapes are available on the Sewickley UMC lawns at the corner of Thorn and Broad streets in Sewickley. The patch opens at 9 a.m. Saturdays, and at 10 a.m. Sunday through Friday. It remains open until dusk daily through Oct. 31.
Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes are available at the pumpkin patch. Fill the box with school supplies, toys, balls and other gifts for children and return the box to the patch by Oct. 31, or to the church office by Nov. 16. This is the 15th year contributing to the OCC global initiative and more than 1,600 boxes have been packed. The boxes have reached children in Ukraine and multiple countries in Africa, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Fill a box as a family, scout troop, class project or neighborhood initiative.
Worship services are held every Sunday at 9 a.m. (contemporary) and 11 a.m. (traditional), with children’s ministry offered in every service. Adult Sunday school is held between services. Youth group gathers Sundays at 1 p.m. Bible study is held Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Sunday School for children of kindergarten age and up and nursery coverage for infants and toddlers is offered at the Sunday 10 a.m. service, which is live-streamed on YouTube. The next monthly Children’s Service will be Oct. 26 at 10 a.m., when young members will serve as readers, acolytes and ushers during the liturgy.
Conversation Friends, the parish’s English as a Second Language ministry, is seeking new volunteers to teach English to recent immigrants. No previous experience is necessary and the sessions are held over Zoom.
The parish is collecting gently worn winter clothing for our needy neighbors. Please bring sweaters, coats, scarves, gloves, etc. to the lobby for distribution to the Neighborhood Resilience Project.
The Book Club will meet at 1 p.m. Nov. 3 in the library to discuss “The Dictionary of Lost Words” by Pip Williams. The work of historical fiction tells the story of a girl during WWI who collects the words discarded or neglected by the men who compiled the Oxford English Dictionary.
The Modern Episcopalians study group continues to explore “How We Learn to Be Brave,” by Bishop Marian Edgar Budde, over Zoom on Thursdays at 7 p.m. Contact the office for a link.
The children and youth of the parish are sponsoring a collection this month of cat and dog treats for use at Animal Friends, a shelter in Ohio Township. Donations may be left in the church lobby.
Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the library.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.
The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.
