The Lindsay Theater & Cultural Center hosted a pair of Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium experts to talk about and showcase animals as part of a special screening event for Disney’s animated film “Zootopia 2.”

Zoo interpretation manager Jessica Ries and volunteer services manager Heather Berkey fielded questions from guests and introduced attendees to Cayenne, a small yellow corn snake; and Birundi, a larger brown ball python.

About 20 people braved the elements to make it to the Sewickley movie theater Dec. 14.

Josh Axelrod, Lindsay communications and media relations director was happy with the turnout, all things considered.

“Considering the weather, we were very pleased with how things went,” Axelrod said. “We appreciate Jessica and Heather for bringing snakes straight from the Pittsburgh Zoo to show kids at The Lindsay that there’s nothing to be afraid of. We would love to collaborate with them again in the future.”

“Zootopia 2” tells the story of rookie cops Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) find themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan) arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down.

To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. The Oscar-winning team of Jared Bush and Byron Howard (directors) and Yvett Merino (producer) are the principal filmmakers.

The Lindsay has hosted special events for movie showings before.

Meteorologists Scott Harbaugh of WPXI and KDKA’s Ron Smiley spoke to a packed house at The Lindsay Theater & Cultural Center as part of the Sewickley venue’s Twister Talk.

The July 26, 2024, event was book-ended by the theater’s afternoon and evening screenings of “Twisters.”
