You’ve seen the no-contact fans at sporting and performance events: the cardboard cutouts of grandmas, dads, youngsters — even pets — that fill seats while covid-related occupancy restrictions are in place.

Locally, these cardboard “fans” are popping up at The Tull Family Theater, as regional businesses “hold” the seats until health circumstances permit occupancy restrictions to be eased.

Patrons will find cardboard silhouettes in screening rooms sponsored by businesses that stepped up to support the independent, film-driven nonprofit, according to a news release.

Like most cultural organizations, the Theater is operating at a significantly reduced occupancy — currently 15%.

“The support of our patrons and regional businesses remains essential as the Theater continues to adapt to evolving circumstances,” said Tull Family Theater executive director Carolina Thor.

“We are grateful to be recognized as a valued asset worthy of their support.”
