Here are some of the latest news items from this morning, Saturday, Sept. 20:

Man in stable condition after stabbing

A man is recovering after being stabbed in the neck in Carrick.

Pittsburgh police were dispatched around 2:10 a.m. Saturday to the 2300 block of Brownsville Road for reports of a stabbing.

Public Safety spokeswoman Eliza Durham said officers found a man suffering from a single stab wound to the neck.

The victim told police he was involved in a verbal alteration with another man inside a bar, and it later became physical.

He said the dispute continued outside and that is when the stabbing occurred, Durham reported.

The victim was taken to a hospital by Pittsburgh EMS and was last listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7800.

Library closed

Sewickley Public Library is closed due to a plumbing issue, library officials announced late Friday.

Officials said an air conditioning unit failed and caused significant water damage to several areas of the library.

Areas affected include the community room, non-fiction section, computer area, and staff workrooms.

It is expected to remain closed through Tuesday. All programs and events have been cancelled until at least Wednesday.

However, the outside book drop is open.
