Beth Samuel Jewish Center

Beth Samuel Jewish Center offers weekly Shabbat services, family services once a month and Kabbalat Shabbat services online once per month. There is also Religious School every Sunday.
First Friday: Family Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by an Oneg in the social hall.
Shabbat Morning Services: Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed by a Kiddush in the social hall.
Kabbalat Shabbat Services: Usually on the third Friday of the month, at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Contact the office for the link. This get-together frequently includes a visiting musician, cantor, rabbi or other noteworthy guest.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

The Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services. The church is a reconciling congregation and openly welcomes all people.
St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Nursery coverage is available for children at the Sunday 10 o’clock service, which is live-streamed on YouTube. Sunday School is on hiatus for the summer.
The Modern Episcopalians study group is holding weekly discussions on Jesus’ life in his time and culture using the book “Jesus Through Middle Eastern Eyes” by Kenneth E. Bailey. The focus is on the life and ministry of Jesus with attention to the Lord’s Prayer, the Beatitudes, his relationship to women and the parables. The sessions are held on Zoom every Thursday at 7 p.m. Contact the office for the link.
St. Brendan’s Adopt-a-Highway chapter will hold its next roadside litter cleanup on June 22 at the Camp Horne Road interchange of I-279 in Ohio Twp. Volunteers will meet at the church at 8:30 a.m. to carpool and finish the cleanup by 11 a.m.
This month’s Taize will take place on June 26 at 6 p.m. It’s a quiet, contemplative service that offers time for calm and reflection in busy lives.
In June the parish is collecting pantry items such as 2-lb. bags of flour and sugar, small bottles of vegetable oil, cans of cherry or apple filling, boxes of Jello or pudding and jars of mayonnaise for the North Hills Food Bank. All other donations will be gladly accepted.
Sticks and Strings, the church’s fiber arts club, meets on the first Friday and third Wednesday of each month. Anyone who knits, crochets, embroiders or works with other handheld fiber arts is invited to meet in the library at 6-8 p.m. for fun, fellowship and handcrafting.
St. Brendan’s Book Club will meet on July 1 at 1 p.m. in the library to discuss “An Invisible Thread” by Laura Schroff. A heartwarming tale of hope, kindness, adventure and love, the book tells the true story of the bond between an 11-year-old boy and a busy sales executive.
The parish will hold its annual picnic July 28, at Blueberry Hill Park in Franklin Park.

The Christy House (located on the corner of Frederick and Walnut streets in Sewickley) serves lunch every Friday from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online at ststephenschurch.net/christyhouse. Cost is $18, which includes two soups, salad, bread, drinks and homemade cookies for dessert. All proceeds benefit various ministries and missions, particularly those involving the needs of women and children.
