Antioch Baptist Church

The fourth pastoral anniversary of beloved Pastor Verton L. Dean Sr. will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 10:45 a.m. The guest speaker for this occasion will be Evangelist Roberta Watkins from Deliverance Temple in Aliquippa. The milestone marks four years of faithful service, spiritual leadership and unwavering dedication to shepherding the congregation with love and wisdom.

The anniversary theme is “A Shepherd After God’s Own Heart,” inspired by the powerful words of Jeremiah 3:15: “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”

Come prepared to be blessed by uplifting music, an encouraging message and the fellowship of believers united in love and purpose. Dinner will be served immediately following service.

The Annual Oktoberfest, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, will take place on Oct. 3 from 5-9 p.m. Lots of food and drink, music and entertainment will be available for all. Cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children 10 and under. The Oktoberfest will be held at the St. James church parking lot and Gathering Space.

The Respect Life Committee receives many urgent requests for infants’ and children’s clothing, especially with the change of seasons.

Please consider placing your family’s outgrown, gently used clothing and shoes in our bin outside St. James Church or our box at the back of St. Mary Church in Aleppo. We joyfully accept sizes newborn through young adult, as well as diapers (all sizes) and wipes.

Sewickley Presbyterian Church

The fall schedule has worship services at 8, 9 and 11 a.m., and a Christian Education hour for all ages at 10 a.m.

The after-school group, Club 345, runs from 3:45-5 p.m. on Wednesdays. This is for students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Throughout the school year, kids will enjoy snacks, great conversations, games, Bible lessons and hands-on activities that teach skills they can use to serve others — like craft making, cooking, flower arranging and more. St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Sunday School for children of kindergarten age and up and nursery coverage for infants and toddlers is offered at the Sunday 10 a.m. service, which is live-streamed on YouTube. The next monthly Children’s Service will be Sept. 28 at 10 a.m., when young members will serve as readers, acolytes and ushers during the liturgy.

Parishioners are invited to celebrate St. Brendan’s at the Ministry Fair on Sept. 28, after the 10 a.m. service. Leaders of up to three dozen parish activities will be on hand in the social hall to offer information and answer questions on the ministries that make this an active, vibrant church.

The Book Club will meet in the library on Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. to discuss “On Call” by Anthony Fauci. The memoir details the public career of the famous doctor who advised seven presidents.

The Modern Episcopalians will resume on Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Over a series of weeks, the group will read and discuss “How We Learn to Be Brave” by Mariann Edgar Budde, the Episcopal bishop who addressed the new presidential administration during a sermon at the National Cathedral in Washington in January. Conversation Friends, the parish’s English as a Second Language ministry, is seeking new volunteers to teach English to recent immigrants. No previous experience is necessary and the sessions are held over Zoom.

The parish has begun collecting gently warm winter clothing for our needy neighbors. Please bring sweaters, coats, scarves, gloves, etc., to the lobby for donation.

St. Brendan’s is supporting the North Hills Food Bank this month by collecting paper towels, napkins, foil, plastic wrap, storage bags and cleaning products such as window cleaners, disinfectant wipes and cleaning solutions. Donations may be left in the church lobby.

Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the library.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.

The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church

Triumph Church

A senior ministry Bible study is held in person and online on Fridays at 10:30 a.m.

Volunteers are needed for the fourth Friday of every month for Triumph’s food distribution. From 2-4 p.m., volunteers will set up and package food and from 5-7 p.m., volunteers will distribute and break down the setup. Visit the website to sign up.

Ladies’ game night is Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. Bring a dish to share and enjoy food, fun and fellowship.

Prayer Night is set for 11 p.m.-7 a.m. Oct. 3. Call the church office for more information on the all-night prayer vigil.
