Police responding to a 911 call for a shooting in Leetsdale late Monday night found the victim — a 19-year-old pregnant woman — several miles away after the car she was riding in crashed, according to authorities.

The shooting was reported at 11:25 p.m. at the intersection of Route 65 and Broad Street, according to Allegheny County police, who were asked to assist with the case.

At about 11:29 p.m. a vehicle crash was reported 4 miles away on Route 65 in Emsworth.

Police and first responders from Ohio Township found the woman and a 20-year-old man who was injured in the wreck, police said.

The woman was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The man was treated for his injuries and released.

The names of the victims were not released.

County homicide detectives said this morning that the victims were in a red Hyundai Sonata travelling north along Route 65 when a second vehicle approached. An occupant in that vehicle fired several shots into the Hyundai, striking the woman in the neck and chest.

After the shooting the Hyundai fled south along Route 65 until it wrecked.

Investigators say a motive for the shooting is unclear and are asking for the public’s help with the investigation.

Detectives are searching for a silver 2019 Kia Optima with Pennsylvania registration plate LME 4338. The car may have damage on the driver’s side.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the county police tip line at: 1-833-ALL-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous. Information also can be reported on the county police social media sites.
