For the second year, the Quaker Valley Rotary Club hosted a sock collection for homeless veterans. Larry and Dawn Capozzolo spearheaded this year’s initiative, placing a box with signs at Safran’s Supermarket in Sewickley, where community members could conveniently drop of their donations. The club promoted the drive on social media, encouraging local residents to donate.

The socks will be distributed via the Veterans Leadership Program, a non-profit helping more than 4,000 veterans annually get back on their feet with housing, wellness, career development and support services so that they can live the fulfilling lives they deserve.

Socks are among the most needed items by the homeless, but the least donated. This year’s sock drive collected more than 300 pairs of socks for Pittsburgh area homeless veterans.
