Jonathan Kuzma and Marna Blackmer were unanimously reappointed as Quaker Valley School Board president and vice president, respectively, at the board’s reorganization meeting Dec. 6.

Kuzma, a 2001 Quaker Valley grad, has been on the board since 2013. This will be his third term as president.

The Leetsdale resident and commercial real estate appraiser thanked his colleagues for their continued support.

“I’d like to thank the board for their confidence in electing me to lead the board for another year,” he said. “School boards are successful when they operate on a strategic level, and I believe the board and district have operated strategically in past years and anticipate strategic thinking to continue. In the coming year, I’m looking forward to opportunities to continue the planning process for the new high school, community engagement with stakeholder groups, and working with fellow board members on delivering a K-12 education that reflects the ‘Quaker Valley Difference.’”

Kuzma also sits on the board of directors for the Sewickley Public Library, and is the chairman of the Leetsdale Municipal Authority.

Blackmer, a Quaker Valley graduate, has served on the board since December 2015. This will be her third term as vice president. The Edgeworth resident serves Quaker Valley’s Region III.

“I am looking forward to continuing in the role of vice president,” Blackmer said. “I am extremely proud of the work that Quaker Valley School District, including the board, administration, teachers and staff do day in and day out for the benefit of the students of Quaker Valley. I appreciate the opportunity to serve this community and the board as vice president.”

Attorney Donald Palmer of GRB Law was retained as district solicitor.

The board went into its legislative session shortly after the reorganization meeting.

Kuzma and Kati Doebler were appointed to the Sewickley Public Library board for a three year term beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2025.

The board approved Jordan Tax Service as the deputy school district tax collector for Edgeworth for the 2022 tax year.

The next board meeting is a work session Jan. 10. The next legislative meeting is set for Jan. 17.
