Quaker Valley School District officials are gearing up to celebrate the graduating class of 2024.

Commencement is set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 30 at Chuck Knox Stadium.

There are 155 graduates participating.

Student speakers will be seniors Everest Gray, Olivia Berry, John McHenry and Hanna Carver.

Other speakers include Superintendent Tammy Andreyko, high school Principal Deborah Riccobelli and school board Vice President Daniela Helkowski.

The superintendent said everyone is excited for the big day.

“Celebrating the Quaker Valley Class of 2024 at this year’s graduation ceremony is an opportunity to honor our students and their great achievements,” Andreyko said.

“Congratulations to each member of the exceptional graduating Class of 2024. We are excited to commemorate this special day together, acknowledging this memorable milestone.”

All seniors participating in commencement must attend a mandatory practice. They are to arrive at the high school at 8:45 a.m. and will proceed to the field shortly afterward.

Officials said graduates are to wear black business casual or dress clothing. They are prohibited from wearing jeans, shorts, flip-flops or ragged tennis shoes and are not to decorate their caps.

Tickets are not required for graduation. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking at the Leetsdale stadium will be extremely limited to passes for families of graduating seniors only. Each graduate will have one space. Students with dual mailing addresses will receive two spaces.

District officials said students, including the band and choir, are not drive and park at the stadium. They are to be dropped off.

The district will provide a shuttle from Edgeworth Elementary School to the stadium’s lower lot.

Concession stands will not be open. People are encouraged to bring water. Restrooms will be available.

A health tent will be accessible for those requiring medical assistance, and an ambulance will be on standby.

The ceremony may be moved to 7 p.m. May 31 or 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. June 1 in the event of inclement weather.

Notifications of any rescheduling will be sent via phone alert system, text messaging and posting on the district website.

More information about graduation is expected to be posted closer to the event date via the district’s website, qvsd.org.
