Quaker Valley student awarded scholarship from women's organization

A Quaker Valley High School senior has been selected to receive the PEO STAR Scholarship.

Hannah Peacock, daughter of Bradley and Karen Peacock, is the recipient for the 2019-20 academic year.

PEO is a philanthropic organization that celebrates the advancement of women.

Peacock, who was recommended for the scholarship by PEO Chapter BN of Sewickley, will attend Schreyer Honors College of Pennsylvania State University where she plans to study biorenewable systems.

The $2,500 scholarship is based on leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential future for success, according to the organization. The program is open to young women who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada and who are graduating high school seniors at the time of application. A student must be recommended by a P.E.O. Chapter.
