Antioch Baptist Church

Beth Samuel Jewish Center

Beth Samuel Jewish Center meets every Saturday at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom for Morning Shabbat services. First Friday Family Services take place at 5:45 p.m. on the first Friday of the month during the school year, accompanied by a congregational potluck. Kabbalat Shabbat services are held the third Friday of every month during the school year on Zoom.

Christ Church at Grove Farm

Sunday Services are 9 a.m. (traditional) and 11:15 a.m. (modern).

A Women’s Summer Bible Study will take place every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. It is free and there is no homework. Bring a bible, notebook and pen.

Grace Anglican Church

Sunday Worship is at 10:15 a.m. each week. A traditional service of Holy Communion followed by a time of food and fellowship in the Parish Hall.

Morning prayer is 7 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A short service of scripture and prayer to begin the day.

North Way Sewickley Valley

North Way Sewickley Valley is a family-friendly Christian community offering services at 9:15 and 11 a.m. each Sunday. Kids Church is available at both services for children from birth to fifth grade. Autism Ministry support is also available for children from preschool to eighth grade with pre-­registration.

Sewickley Presbyterian Church

Summer Worship is 10 a.m. every Sunday in the sanctuary.

The church will collect donations for its annual Day on the Lawn rummage sale from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 2. Visit the website for a list of donation guidelines.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

The Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services. The church is a reconciling congregation and openly welcomes all people.

The United Women in Faith of the Sewickley United Methodist church will host a Sale for Missions from 1-7 p.m. Sept. 8 and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 9 at the church. Previously owned treasures, including household items, seasonal clothing, shoes, books, puzzles and much more will be available. Enter using door 10 from the driveway off Thorn Street. All proceeds from the sale are used to fund local, national and international United Women in Faith mission projects.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. The Sunday 10 o’clock service is also live-streamed on YouTube. Nursery coverage is available for children at the 10 a.m. service.

The annual Blessing of the Children and Backpacks will take place at the 10 a.m. service Aug. 27.

Popular local vocalist Keely Singer will present “A Blast from the Past,” a live concert showcasing tunes from the ’60s and ’70s, at 7 p.m. Sept. 7. Tickets are $15 and include light appetizers and refreshments. Wine and other foods will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The new Sunday School year will kick off Sept. 10 with a special morning of games, crafts and Bible-based activities from 9:30 a.m. to noon. All children from kindergarten through grade 5 are invited to join the fun.

The Book Club will resume its monthly meetings at 3 p.m. Sept. 11 and discuss “An Immense World” by Pulitzer Prize-winning science journalist Ed Yong.

Morning Prayer is offered at 8 a.m., Monday-Friday, via Zoom. Bible Study is held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays via Zoom. Please contact the office for links.

St. James Church

The monthly Sleeping Mat Society meeting will be held 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in the Gathering Space at St. James Church. Volunteers cut and attach plastic grocery bags into recycled yarn (plarn). Plarn is then crocheted into three-foot by six-foot sleeping mats. The society is always in need of cutters and crocheters; no prior experience is needed for cutting.

Last month, 11 sleeping mats were sent to Panama and 24 military mats to deployed soldiers. Since 2012, 849 sleeping mats have been sent to 16 countries and 1,537 military mats to 11 countries, recycling 1,239,830 plastic bags.

St. Luke the Evangelist

Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish will host its 20th annual golf outing on Sept. 8 at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The Saint Luke Parish includes Saints John and Paul Church in Franklin Park and Good Samaritan Church in Ambridge. Proceeds from the outing benefit the Parish’s mission trips and the Neighborhood Non-Profit Fund. Registration is available online at Saintluke.net/golf-outing. St. Matthew’s AME Zion Church

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday service is at 10:30, led by Pastor William B. Rankin.

The church will hold a Soul Food Celebration during Harvest Fest, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 9. The menu includes ribs, collard greens, mac and cheese, red beans and rice, potato salad, southern barbecue and wings. For delivery and orders, call 929-599-7946.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

Worship is at 10 a.m. every Sunday, in person and online.

Bible Study is at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the Edgeworth Eat’n Park.

St. Paul’s also hosts the Kids’ Community Closet. The free-cycle space serves children ages infant to youth by providing gently used clothing, coats/jackets, and shoes to the community for free. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. There are no applications, income guidelines, or donations required to “shop” at the Kids’ Closet. Using the courtyard entrance to St. Paul’s, community members are welcome to stop by the second floor to donate, shop, or volunteer on Saturdays this summer. The Kids’ Community Closet is only able to accept children’s clothing and shoes. We are not able to accept toys, baby gear, bedding/blankets, athletic equipment, etc.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church

Outdoor Service & Picnic will be 10 a.m. Sept. 3. Join in the annual outdoor (weather permitting) service and picnic on Labor Day weekend. Lunch immediately follows the service.

The children are back in school, and either you find yourself filled with tears of sadness or maybe you find yourself happy. Either way, St. Stephens invites you to the Boo Hoo/Yahooo Breakfast for Moms at 9 a.m. Sept. 5. We’ll have tissues and smiles as we gather for breakfast goodies, coffee, tea, fellowship, a devotion, and a time of prayer for our children, their educators, and the upcoming school year.
