Sewickley Academy’s holiday toy drive resulted in multiple gifts for a local ministry.

School officials said they were able to donate seven large red giving boxes with toys and gifts to East End Cooperative Ministry in mid-December.

The drive was from Dec. 2-15 and included efforts from fifth graders and academy director of community & well-being Derek Chimner.

Several students accompanied Chimner to EECM and met with the Rev. Tracy Hudson.

Hudson, the ministry’s volunteer coordinator, expressed her organization’s appreciation and informed the young learners about its programs.

EECM’s children and youth program serves 10 Pittsburgh Public Schools and has more than 700 families registered to receive a gift.

Along with the giving drives, EECM’s food pantry serves families from 52 zip codes, including children from infancy to 17 years old, with nearly an additional 600 registered.
