Primary races in Aleppo, Bell Acres, Edgeworth, Glen Osborne, Sewickley, Sewickley Heights and Sewickley Hills were uncontested.

Leet commissioners

Four Democrats vied for two ballot spots in the board of commissioners race. Donna Adipietro, the only incumbent in the race, received 148 votes, while Daniel Peluso received 108.

While two Republicans, Rody Nash and Stephanie Turner, were vying for two spots on the ballot in the Republican race (Jeff Besong withdrew from the race too late for his name to be removed from the ballot), write-ins bumped Turner down to third place. So, a write-in candidate could join Nash on the November ballot.

Just 10 write-in votes are needed to get on the ballot in November, according to county election officials.

Those who receive enough write-in votes to run in the general election must accept the party’s nomination and be qualified to run before their names are placed on the ballot.

Leetsdale

Newcomer Sandra Ford ousted incumbent Mayor Peter Poninsky, 146 to 57 in the Democratic mayoral primary. Ford could face a write-in candidate in November – there were 90 Democratic write-in votes.

For council, six Democrats ran for four ballot spots. Patricia Lee and Beth Carroll each received 138 votes, while incumbent Osman Awad received 101 and Elizabeth Surmacz received 69.

Republican candidate Maria Napolitano ran uncontested and received 92 votes, while write-ins received 126 votes. Napolitano will be on the ballot in the general election.
