A new police contract is closer to being finalized between Sewickley and Glen Osborne boroughs.

Sewickley officers have patrolled their neighboring community’s streets for about a decade.

The current five-year deal is set to expire this year. Its terms show Glen Osborne paying about $119,000 this year for police services.

Sewickley Council approved advertising an ordinance earlier this month for a new five-year contract with Glen Osborne. Glen Osborne Council finalized things on its end Oct. 20.

“We’re very happy with it,” Glen Osborne council President Thomas Huddleston said Friday. “This has been a normal thing.”

Huddleston said his borough costs remain around $119,000 for the first two years with a “modest increase” the remaining three years.

Sewickley Manager Marla Marcinko said the ordinance would be advertised and the contract available for public review on Oct. 30.

The votes from both councils moving the contract forward were unanimous.

“We’re always excited to work with our neighbors,” Sewickley Council President Jeff Neff said. “We’ve already been providing service to Osborne for a number of years, well over 10.”

Neff said municipalities sharing services also helps save taxpayer money.

At least one officer would be available for Glen Osborne at all times.

Sewicley Council is expected to finalize the agreement Nov. 10 .

Sewickley also has a contract to provide police services to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital.
