Sewickley Music Club celebrates 140th season

The Sewickley Music Club is celebrating its 104th year and welcoming back members for the 2024-25 season of a talented lineup of musical performances.

The first musical program is “From Church to Tango” performed by Alejandro Pinzón (bandoneón – tang instrument) and Rodrigo Ojeda (piano).

Pinzón is the music director and Principal conductor at Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra. He formed “Maestro Tango” and teaches dance workshops and music master classes, conducts concerts, performs with chamber ensembles and orchestras and gives lectures about tango.

Ojeda is an assistant teaching professor of coaching and accompanying at Carnegie Mellon University as well as a piano faculty member in its Music Preparatory School. He has also been playing with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since 2006.

Club members will meet for their first tea and program at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 405 Frederick Ave. in Sewickley.
