Sewickley Parking Authority formally dissolved by borough council
The Sewickley Parking Authority has been formally dissolved.
Council approved the start of the process to bring parking enforcement back to the borough office in October.
Elected officials approved the authority’s certificate of termination on March 8.
“It formalizes the arraignment with the state and the county,” council President Cynthia Mullins said. “It’s paperwork. Nothing has changes (from the October arrangement).”
The authority was established in early 2016. It was formed to look into other parking options, including a garage. A parking garage project ended up not being feasible.
It has three part-time workers, all of which will remain Sewickley employees. They will continue the daily parking duties and report to the borough manager instead of the authority board.
Mullins was its chairperson. Council Vice President Julie Barnes was its secretary, Councilman Todd Renner served as treasurer and Chris Voltz was its solicitor, according to the borough website.
Parking authority meetings took place at 5:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of the month at 601 Thorn St.
Its last one was listed on Jan. 19 in which its officials were to approve the authority’s termination, according to its posted agenda.
