The board of directors of the Sewickley Valley Community Fund recently approved significant grants to the Sweetwater Center for the Arts and The Lindsay Theater and Cultural Center. At Sweetwater, the grant will be used to modify the environment of their children’s art room to make it friendly for children with general anxiety disorder and those with autism. The Lindsay will use their grant to support programs that introduce middle school students to film production, cultural outreach serving children from low-income communities, and sensory friendly events for special needs children.

“Sweetwater and the Lindsay have marvelous track records in developing opportunities for otherwise underserved young people in the Quaker Valley communities,” said Mark Gensheimer, SVCF board president. “The fact that these programs are available right here in our community is a tribute to work being done at the Lindsay and Sweetwater.
