Sewickley Valley Historical Society announces the opening of applications for the 2022 Preservation Grant.

Established in 2018, the Sewickley Valley Historical Society Preservation Grant annually awards funding for up to $10,000 to eligible nonprofit organizations and public entities within the 11 boroughs of the Quaker Valley School District. Matching funds for requests $5,000-$10,000 are required.

Grant funds are applicable for exterior construction work only. The purpose of the grant is to support projects that rehabilitate, restore and preserve local historic resources. Applications must be complete and submitted by the deadline to receive consideration.

The numerous historic assets defining the character of the Sewickley Valley are a reliable source of both pride and joy. All too frequently, however, organizations are unable to source funding for much-needed restoration work and structural repairs.

Recognizing the funding challenges faced by non-profit organizations and municipalities responsible for the upkeep of these resources, the Sewickley Valley Historical Society decided to take action by creating a preservation grant program. Grants provided by this program are not limited to historic buildings, but may also be used for the improvement and restoration of outdoor public spaces with unique features that define the cultural landscape of the Sewickley Valley.

Applications may be downloaded from sewickleyhistory.org or requested at the office. Only complete applications submitted via email or mailed and posted marked by the deadline of Dec. 31, 2021, will receive consideration.
