Distracted driving event
Quaker Valley High School students gathered on April 21 to learn more about distracted driving and take a pledge not to be distracted behind the wheel of a vehicle. Students signed a distracted driving awareness banner, which is now displayed in the high school where other students can sign their names.
The event, sponsored by AAA, PennDOT, and Impact Teen Drivers, encourages students to pay attention to the road (April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month). The event reminds drivers of all ages about the dangers of being distracted behind the wheel.
Common distractions for drivers include cell phones, eating and drinking, changing settings in the vehicle, brushing hair and applying makeup.
Quaker Valley Chief of School Police Aaron Vanatta awarded a free driving lesson with Cindy Cohen Driving School at the event. Dominic Floro won the driving lesson.
