Sewickley man accepted to scholar program

Tice Harkins of Sewickley has been accepted to the Geisinger Primary Care Scholars program. Harkins, a member of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s MD Class of 2024, in August began first-year studies at the school. The Geisinger Primary Care Scholars Program focuses on family medicine, internal medicine and Medicine-pediatrics. Primary Care Scholars pay no tuition and receive a monthly stipend in exchange for becoming a Geisinger-employed physician in one of the targeted specialties. The program also provides enriched primary care clinical experiences for the scholars and pairs each with a physician mentor who offers support and guidance throughout the student’s four years of medical school.

Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at the Eat’n Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Sept. 9. Harvest Festival canceled

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, Sewickley’s Harvest Festival has been canceled.

Beth Samuel Jewish Center virtual program

BSJC will host all programs through Zoom until further notice. At 7 p.m. Sept. 9, Cantor Rena Shapiro will present a High Holy Day Melody Review. For more information and the login link, email BethSamuel Office@comcast.net.

Bible Study

Divine Redeemer Parish is offering an 11-week video-based Bible Study presented by Jeff Cavins on the Book of Revelation. Virtual sessions via Zoom will be offered Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m., beginning Sept. 27. Call 724-350-5359 to register.

Welcoming Everyone online storytelling

Welcoming Everyone and Sewickley Public Library will co-host an online storytelling event at which several stories/interviews will be heard. The readings will be followed by a Q&A session. After the event, Welcoming Everyone plans to share Local Voices with the public through its Facebook page and by email. The community is invited to participate in Local Voices with open minds and hearts in order to listen, learn and be inspired to make the community a welcoming place for all. The virtual event will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20. Register online at www.sewickleylibrary.org.
