Art classes
Summer registration is open. Sweetwater Center for the Arts offers weekly camps through Aug. 20 for ages 4-16 in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, drawing, painting, mixed media, performing arts and culinary! Sweetwater also offers pre-care beginning at 8 a.m. and after-care until 5 p.m. and scholarships to students demonstrating need. In addition to summer camps, Sweetwater offers ongoing classes and workshops for youth and adults of all skill levels and experience, as well as private lessons with professional teaching artists.

Preschool Jumpstart Program
A mini-preschool program to help children new to preschool ease into a school environment before starting preschool in the fall.
The program, taught by Village Preschool teachers, will foster social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development, as well as support individual developmental milestones that contribute to a strong foundation for future learning in the preschool setting. Class sizes will be limited to between 10 and 12 children. It will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays July 13-29.

Countdown to Kindergarten Summer Prgram
Countdown to Kindergarten is for children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2021
The multidisciplinary group is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten. Each day will offer fun and varied activities to promote language enrichment, fine and gross motor skills, socialization and early academic knowledge. Staffed by Laughlin Children’s Center therapists and clinicians, children will participate in centers to engage with each discipline. It will take place 10 a.m.-noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from July 26-Aug. 6. Cost is $300 per child and class size is limited.
The Village Preschool in-person registration
Registration is currently being accepted for The Village Preschool.
The program for 3-year-olds is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-11:30 a.m. Class is limited to 12 children. Children must be 3 by Sept. 1. Registration is $50 and tuition is nine monthly payments of $225.
The program for 4-year-olds is Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-12:10 a.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Class is limited to 18 children. Children must be 4 by Sept. 1. Registration is $50 and tuition is nine monthly payments of $400.
Classes are intentionally small to give the school’s qualified, caring, experienced teachers an opportunity to know your child well and leverage Laughlin Children’s Center’s 60+ years of multidisciplinary experience to help your child grow.

Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement (CARE) Workshops
CARE training including an educational component and active practice for general use by adults who interact with children of all ages in a variety of settings.
CARE is a trauma-informed, field-initiated training for nonclinical adults. The training is not therapy but is based on principles taught in Parent Child Interaction Therapy. CARE utilizes the 3 P’s – Praise, Paraphrase, Point out to connect with children and promote positive child-adult relationships. CARE training also contains a set of techniques for giving effective commands to children and a set of selective ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors.
The Laughlin Children’s Center Psychology department is offering a CARE workshop for adults only, 10 a.m.-noon July 30 and Aug. 6.

Summer blockbusters
“F9: The Fast Saga,” the latest film in the “Fast & Furious” series, stars perennial favorite Vin Diesel and opens with a sneak preview June 24.
Marvel’s “Black Widow,” the origin story of operative Natasha Romanoff, opens with a sneak preview July 8.
