Bell Acres police called in an Allegheny County SWAT team after a man who allegedly fired several shots inside a home along North Avenue on May 16 refused to come out. The man, whose name was not released, was arrested without incident.

A SWAT team was dispatched to the borough of Bell Acres on Thursday after a man refused to leave a home during a domestic dispute, according to police.

Officers responding to a call for shots fired in the 100 block of North Avenue shortly before 3:15 p.m. found a woman outside a home who said a man with a handgun fired several shots inside the house, according to authorities.

The man was identified in a police report as Christopher Denny, 60, of Bell Acres.

“We extracted her from the area and attempted to make contact with the man to get him to come out, but he did not respond,” borough police Chief Kris Korol said.

Nobody was injured as a result of the gunfire. The chief said the man inside the home was a family member of the woman.

An Allegheny County SWAT team was called to the scene to assist when the man wouldn’t come out of the house, Korol said.

“The SWAT team surrounded the house and the man surrendered,” Korol said.

Denny was charged by Bell Acres police with terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
