Tapas Talks donates to Sewickley Valley YMCA summer camp
A new Sewickley speaker series recently made a donation to the Sewickley Valley YMCA Summer Camp programs.
Tapas Talks, a nonprofit, fulfilled one of it’s missions with the $600 donation by giving back to the community.
The first two events — in October and January — drew 135 attendees and featured Dr. Chris Howard, president of Robert Morris University, and Christine Cassotis, CEO of Allegheny County Airport Authority.
The April event featuring Benjamin Mantica, co-founder and former Co-CEO of The Galley Group; Nicholas Ambeliotis, owner of Mediterra Café; and Barbara McKenna, owner of Hyeholde Restaurant, was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Subscribers will be notified when the 2021 schedule is available. Updated speaker information will be available in September at www.tapastalks.org.
The Sewickley Valley YMCA Summer Day Camp has been in existence since 1912, and serves children throughout the Sewickley Valley and beyond. Thanks to individual and community donations and support from foundations, the Y is able to provide summer camp to children whose families are facing financial difficulties. Last year, the Y provided $110,000 in financial assistance to 215 children to greatly reduce camp fees, and provided free camp to children who came to the Y through community partners.
Tapas Talks is a non-profit organization to “inform, inspire, connect and engage” the community through a speaker series.
