Tapas Talks is back for the 2022 season. More than 100 friends and neighbors attended the initial event Feb. 17 at Allegheny Country Club. The program, “Food Passion: A Journey to Sewickley,” was provided by three individuals very familiar with food and Sewickley — Nick Ambeliotis of Mediterra, Barbara McKenna of Hyeholde and Robin Fernandez of The Hotel each shared their journeys into the food industry.

The evening started with a social hour featuring delicious tapas. Tapas Talks board member Holly Hampe welcomed guests and introduced the three speakers. Throughout the presentations, the audience was invited to submit questions to the speakers. After the lecture, there was a panel discussion moderated by Hampe with dessert, coffee and continued conversation to cap off the evening.

Tapas Talks is a non-profit organization that aims to “inform, inspire, connect and give back” to the community through a speaker series. Sponsors included First National Bank, Heritage Valley Health System, Wilpen Hall, Eat’n Park, Sewickley Public Library and Michael J. Hatcher/Hampe. Because of their donations, Tapas Talks was able to give honorariums to the presenters — and all of the presenters donated them back to the organization.
