On Nov. 27 Coraopolis United Methodist Church will open its doors once again to host its 13th Annual Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner, a beloved tradition that brings warmth, food, and fellowship to the West Hills community. The free dine-in meal will be served from 1-3 p.m. in the church’s dining hall.

Everyone is welcome — no reservations are required.

The menu features a classic Thanksgiving spread: roast turkey, homemade mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, green beans, cranberries and dessert. The meal is entirely free of charge, reflecting the church’s mission to nourish the community not only physically but also spiritually and emotionally.

The 13th annual Cookie Sale, organized by Coraopolis UMC, will take place inside VFW Post 402, located at 412 Mulberry St., Coraopolis, on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Each year, this tradition draws crowds eager to purchase delicious homemade cookies — perfect for holiday gatherings or gifting. Pre-orders will be accepted through Nov. 22.

Divine Redeemer Knights of Columbus is sponsoring Turkey Bingo 7 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Saint James School cafeteria. The event includes 15 games for $15 to win a certificate for a turkey or chicken, special games, 50/50 raffle and raffle baskets. Early Bird specials begin at 6:30. Refreshments will be available. Bring the whole family.

Divine Redeemer Evangelization Committee will be offering Coffee and Prayer in the Saint James Gathering Space every Saturday during the Farmers’ Market hours. Coffee is supplied by Coffee Village. There is no charge. Free-will offerings are always welcome. All are invited.

A plastic bags to sleeping mat workshop will be offered on 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the Gathering Space at St. James. Come and help us cut plastic bags (bring scissors) and help us roll them into balls to be crocheted. Or, learn and work from home.

A new group of mats went to Guatemala with nursing students from Robert Morris University in October.

The Divine Redeemer Respect Life Committee receives many urgent requests for infants’ and children’s clothing, especially with the change of seasons. Please consider placing your family’s outgrown, gently-used clothing and shoes in our bin outside St. James Church or our box at the back of St. Mary Church in Aleppo. The after-school group, Club 345, runs from 3:45-5 p.m. on Wednesdays. This is for students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Throughout the school year, kids will enjoy snacks, great conversations, games, Bible lessons and hands-on activities that teach skills they can use to serve others — like craft making, cooking, flower arranging and more. The United Women in Faith of the Sewickley United Methodist church will host a Sale for Missions from 3-7 p.m. Nov. 7 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 8. Previously owned treasures, including Christmas items, household items, seasonal clothing, shoes, books, puzzles and much more, will be available. Please enter through door 10 from the Thorn Street driveway. All proceeds from the sale are used to fund local, national and international United Women in Faith mission projects.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sundays, and 5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Sunday School for children of kindergarten age and up and nursery coverage for infants and toddlers is offered at the Sunday 10 o’clock service, which is live-streamed on YouTube.

The next monthly Children’s Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m., when St. Brendan’s young parishioners will serve as lectors, ushers and acolytes.

The Youth Group meets the third Sunday of every month after the 10 a.m. service. Students in grades 6-12 are welcome to attend. Lessons from the Journey to Adulthood program will focus on the relationship of young people with Jesus through learning, praying and serving together.

The Book Club will meet on Monday, Dec. 1, in the library to discuss “Born a Crime” by comedian Trevor Noah. The autobiography tells the story of his experiences as the child of a black South African mother and a white Swiss father during apartheid.

Sticks & Strings, the church group that likes to knit, crochet or embroider, meets on the third Tuesday and first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the library.

The Kids’ Community Closet is a “free-cycle” community space to share kids’ clothes (birth through size 14/16). All clothing is free and in good, very gently used condition — some items still have tags on. There are no applications, income requirements, or donations necessary.

The Kids’ Community Closet is located at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, and noon to 2:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church
