The Tull Family Theater names Sewickley community leader as its new board member

A Sewickley woman and nonprofit executive has been named the newest Tull Family Theater board member.

Carla Smith Nash will share her 30 years of experience in consulting, executive coaching and leadership, financial processes and strategic planning with the nonprofit cinema.

The Tull Family Theater is a film-driven arts organization with a mission of strengthening cultural, educational and entertainment experiences northwest of Pittsburgh.

“The theater’s programming fosters connections between patrons and civic, academic and corporate leaders,” Nash said via press release. “Throughout my career, I’ve taken an active interest in developing public and private sector and community resources, and this presents a new, exciting way to become involved.”

Carolina Thor, the theater’s executive director, said Nash will be a tremendous asset.

“We welcome Carla’s perspectives gained from working with both public and nonprofit organizations,” Thor said. “As the leader of Sewickley’s Union Aid Society, Carla has strong insights into delivering services to people living in vulnerable circumstances and within the theater’s reach.”

As executive director of the Union Aid Society in Sewickley, Nash is responsible for the organization’s financial aid disbursements as well as community and funding partnerships.

She had served as a senior project manager and executive coach for Whirlwind Technologies, a multi-million-dollar firm in the metro Washington, D.C. area, and launched an executive coaching business in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Nash also worked as a director, project manager and performance reviewer for consulting firms in the ‘D.C. area, managing information technology and financial systems.

She volunteers her financial skills to the Sewickley Community Center and was involved with the nonprofit Path to Greatness, during her time in Washington.
