Pre-school/kindergarten open house

Parents interested in learning more about pre-schools, childcare centers and kindergartens in the Quaker Valley area are invited to attend our annual Open House 6:30-8 p.m. Jan. 27. Representatives from these facilities will be available to answer questions about their programs. This is a unique opportunity for area parents to investigate educational opportunities for their children.

No registration is required.

Fourth and Fifth Grade Battle of the Books

Battle of the Books is a program designed to encourage reading and give recognition to those who like to read. Team members each read from a list of books selected by the Children’s Department of the Sewickley Public Library, and compete with other teams by answering trivia questions based on the books.

Those who are interested in participating in Battle of the Books should have an Allegheny County Library card and form a BOB team of four to five members, with an adult team manager. Space is limited to 15 teams per grade.

Registration forms are available at the Children’s Department or at your school’s library. Forms must be returned to the Children’s Department by Jan. 25. For more information, contact head of Children’s Services Jen Farmerie at farmeriej@einetwork.net or 412-741-0937.
