YMCA Summer Day Camp

This summer, let your kids be kids again at the Sewickley Valley YMCA’s Summer Day Camp. During camp at the Y, your child can build robots, dance, become a lego master or gymnast, explore the outdoors and much more. Plus, all camps include art, swimming, games and singing silly songs. Whether you register your child for a single two-week session, or all five, the tech-free summer will be the summer to remember!

New this year, cardboard camp offers creativity and imagination where campers build armor, participate in live-action adventure gaming and seek out lost relics.

A Conversation with Tamara Winfrey Harris & Rochelle Riley

In “Dear Black Girl,” author Tamara Winfrey Harris introduces and organizes a selection of these letters, modeling how Black women can nurture future generations. Each chapter ends with a prompt encouraging girls to write a letter to themselves, teaching the art of self-love and self-nurturing.

The Penguin Bookshop Writers Series will host Winfrey Harris 7 p.m. March 25 to celebrate the release of her latest book, “Dear Black Girl: Letters From Your Sisters on Stepping Into Your Power.” Winfrey Harris will be joined in conversation by Rochelle Riley, author of “That They Lived: African Americans that Changed the World.”

The conversation should last approximately one hour, and will conclude with a Q&A from the audience. This event will be hosted virtually via Zoom. Advance registration is required and can be done online at penguinbookshop.com.
