Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement workshops

CARE training including an educational component and active practice for general use by adults who interact with children of all ages in a variety of settings.

CARE is a trauma-informed, field-initiated training for nonclinical adults.

The training is not therapy but is based on principles taught in Parent Child Interaction Therapy. CARE utilizes the 3 P’s — Praise, Paraphrase, Point out to connect with children and promote positive child-adult relationships. CARE training also contains a set of techniques for giving effective commands to children and a set of selective ignoring techniques to redirect problematic behaviors.

The Laughlin Children’s Center Psychology department is offering a one-day CARE workshop for adults only, 10 a.m.-noon July 30 and Aug. 6, Aug. 12 and Aug. 13.
