Shaler area communities had a number of uncontested races

In Shaler, there were two contested races for commissioner – in wards 2 and 4.

In Ward 2, Republican David Mizgorski beat Democrat Frank Jans 747 to 705.

In Ward 4, Democrat Conrad Wagner received 609 votes, while Republican Matthew Thiel received 572.

The Ward 6 race was uncontested, with James Boyle cross-filed on the ballot.

There were multiple uncontested municipal races in the Shaler coverage area.

In Etna, Mayor Thomas Rengers was the only candidate on the ballot in the mayoral race. He received 541 votes. There were 19 write-ins.

According to the Allegheny County Office of Elections’ preliminary results, Alice Gabriel ran uncontested for the Etna Ward 1 council seat. She received 183 votes. There were 10 write-ins.

Edward V. Burke Jr. and Daniele Pamela Rothmeyer-McElhaney ran for two open spots in Ward 2. And in Ward 3, Dave Becki was the only candidate on the ballot.

Millvale Mayor Brian Spoales ran for reelection unopposed and received 477 votes. There were 14 write-ins.

Three candidates were on the ballot for three seats on Millvale council – James A. Machajewski Jr., Albert Atkison and John W. Varley.

In Reserve Ward 2, Ron Neurohr ran opposed, as did Sharon Linette Sweeney in Ward 4.
