Cooler temperatures and the smell of hay, campfires and grilling hot dogs set the scene for Shaler Township’s yearly celebration of the change of seasons, Fall Fest.

Large crowds gathered on the evening of Oct. 2 at the Kiwanis Park, where a hay maze, bounce houses and booths with food and other goodies were up for sale.

Children of all ages, many in Halloween costumes, could be found running from one bounce house to another, then on to one of the playground areas, then to a booth for a treat.

Fall Fest is just one of the events being held by the township to celebrate Fall. The next to be held will be Trunk or Treat, also at Kiwanis Park, starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 9.
