Swissvale police said no one was injured in a shooting incident that sent a bullet through a school bus Friday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., two vehicles exchanged gunfire in an incident that started in the Edgewood Towne Center, Swissvale police said.

The incident then extended into Swissvale, police said, where a bullet “went through a school bus.”

Schools were briefly put on a lockdown, according to police.

Officials said there are no injuries reported and no immediate threat to the community.

Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigation Unit responded to assist in Edgewood, officials said, and found evidence of a storefront and several parked vehicles struck by gunfire.

County police said they are leading the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous. People also can contact the Edgewood or Swissvale police departments.
