Academic achievements
The following students from the South Hills area were recognized for their academic achievement during the spring 2021 semester by being named to the dean’s, president’s or provost’s list at the college or university they attend:

Cast in musical
Nick Cortazzo, a Baldwin High School graduate, was part of the cast in the production of “5 New Musicals X 15 Minutes” during the spring 2021 semester. The 10th annual Baldwin Wallace University and Beck Center for the Arts collaboration was done in the form of virtual world premieres of five 15-minute brand new musicals chosen by the National Alliance for Musical Theatre. Cortazzo, who is majoring in music theatre, played the part of Butch in “Rodeo Clowns,” a queer, western epic about two eccentric outcasts who save the heart of their disintegrating town.
Academic honors
John Carroll University’s College of Arts & Sciences presented academic awards to more than 250 students during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Riley Napoleon, of the psychology department, earned the the Applied Psychology Award, the Research Recognition Award and the Service Recognition Award.
Julia Rose of Jefferson Hills, of the Education & School Psychology department, earned the Rev. Joseph O. Schell Ignation Award for Excellence in Education.
