2021 BWEF Scholarship Recipients
Baldwin-Whitehall Educational Foundation will award $8,000 in scholarship funds this spring, raising the scholarship value to more than $25,000 since 2018.
Annual BWEF Scholarships

James E. Lewis Science Scholarship
• Roshna Bhattarai, presented by the James E. Lewis Scholarship Trust
• Donald Huckle Memorial Band Scholarship
• Aidan Greenaway, presented by the Donald Huckle Memorial Fund
Dean’s List
Rand Al Baka and Teeba Al Baka were named to the winter 2021 Dean’s List at Knox College in Illinois. To be named to the Dean’s List, a student must have earned at least 2.5 credits in the term, with a grade point average of 3.6 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
Regional engineering contest winner
Jared Koenig, a Civil Engineering major at Youngstown State University, is a member of YSU’s Steel Bridge team that placed first at the Ohio Valley Student Steel Bridge Competition, qualifying for the national event in June.
The competition, which involves the design, fabrication, construction and testing of a steel structure under certain specifications, was held virtually this year, with teams submitting videos of their official bridge build and load test.
The team placed first overall and in several categories, including Construction Speed, Lightness, Construction Economy and Efficiency.
Rising Stars Awards
Kara Devers, a sophomore early childhood and special education major at Slippery Rock University, was named on the list of the school’s Office for Student Engagement and Leadership’s 2020-21 Rising Star awards as an Emerging Leader.
Phi Kappi Phi Honor Society
Penn State University student Rosina Natter and University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg student Jacqueline Drazdzinksi were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
Only the top 10% of seniors and 7.5% of juniors are eligible for membership.
