New parents Katherine and Anthony Rusch of Bethel Park welcomed a healthy baby boy, Braxton Rusch at 2:02 a.m. Jan. 1 at Allegheny Health Network’s Jefferson Hospital.

He came in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and just a little over 20 inches long, and is AHN’s first baby born in the Greater Pittsburgh area in 2023.

As part of the exciting celebration, the family will receive one year of free diapers thanks to the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank and a birthday gift basket with comfort items filled by AHN caregivers.

Allegheny Health Network has 14 hospitals and more than 200 primary- and specialty-care practices in more than 300 clinical locations and offices. In addition, AHN has approximately 2,600 physicians in every clinical specialty, 21,000 employees and thousands of volunteers.

The Rev. Phillip Battle and his wife, Cathy, founded the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank in 2012 while he was serving as pastor of New Light Temple Baptist Church in Pittsburgh’s Terrace Village neighborhood. From its original six partner agencies in Allegheny County, the diaper bank has grown to 53 partner agencies in four additional counties: Fayette, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland.
