A man from Pittsburgh’s Carrick neighborhood was being held without bail after authorities said he threatened to bring a bomb to St. Clair Hospital on Tuesday, according to court papers.

Christopher Moran, 43, is charged with making terroristic threats and bomb threats, both misdemeanors.

He arrived at the Mt. Lebanon hospital on Monday and was a patient there when police said he made the threat. Hospital police were notified at 11 a.m. Tuesday that Moran had contacted hospital risk management on a recorded line and threatened to bring a bomb to the hospital if he was released because he felt he was being discriminated against, according to court papers.

Patients near him were immediately moved because of safety concerns. Moran has made threats against hospital staff recently and has a history of violence toward fellow patients, police said in court papers.

After an evaluation, he was immediately discharged. Moran was arraigned at 7 p.m. Tuesday and was being held at Allegheny County Jail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

A preliminary hearing is set for April 6.

Moran is awaiting a May preliminary hearing in a simple assault and harassment case filed by hospital police in August, according to online court records.

An April preliminary hearing is set in a separate case filed by Pittsburgh police in January. Moran is facing charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief in that case.

Moran was ordered by an Allegheny County judge to continue mental health treatment in connection with a 2016 case in which he was sentenced to a jail term and probation on simple assault charges.
