Coronavirus cases in South Hills communities continue to rise

As coronavirus cases continue to surge in Allegheny County and across the country, the communities within the South Hills have varying numbers of both positive cases and deaths.

As of Dec. 16, there have been 1,321 total cases of the novel coronavirus in Baldwin Borough since March, according to the latest information provided by an interactive Allegheny County covid-19 map. The borough has reported 19 deaths and 5,627 residents have been tested.

Since the pandemic began, Whitehall has had 963 cases (23 deaths – eight in the past week), Jefferson Hills has had 509 cases (12 deaths), Brentwood has had 460 cases (two deaths), Pleasant Hills has had 392 cases (three deaths) and Baldwin Township has had 83 cases (one death).

Of the South Hills communities, Whitehall has the highest case rate at 691 per 10,000 residents, or 6.9%.
