The Global Minds student club at Baldwin High School teamed up with Baldwin Township to make Halloween goodie bags for children in the community. The BHS club students worked together for several days after school to assemble 200 goodie bags total for Baldwin Township’s Reverse Halloween parade on Oct. 23. The parade was hosted by the township for residents of Baldwin. The township is responsible for donating all of the items, and each child received a goodie bag with candy, fruit snacks and coloring books inside.

Global Minds is a for-youth, by-youth organization that inspires students to form social bonds, intercultural friendships and to consider global issues through youth-led extracurricular activities. The program currently exists in 23 schools and is a program of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh.

At Baldwin High School, Sofia Khatiwada is president and the student who typically organizes volunteer events. The club strives to partner with other organizations within the community to identify and help populations in need. Rebecca Mackin, a teacher at Baldwin High School, serves as the club advisor.
