Baldwin Community Day
Baldwin Community is back on June 3. The day kicks off at noon with the Baldwin Mile. Age groups are 6 and under and under 13-14. The Baldwin Kiwanis will hold a craft show in the borough building from 1-5:30 p.m. and the Baldwin Women’s Club will take over the space from 6-8 p.m. with bingo. Performances throughout the day inlcude Bhutanese dancers, magician TJ Hill, a talent show and the band Artistree. The day ends with a fireworks display. In addition, there will be a petting zoo, log cabin tours from the Historical Society, duck pond, kids crafts and a variety of food and drink options. Members of the Baldwin Police Department will take turns in the dunk dank from noon-7 p.m. Proceeds from the dunk tank will go to the Sluganski Scholarship Fund, which will be presented to a Baldwin-Whitehall senior who is pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Traffic restrictions
Lane restrictions are possible on State Route 51 as crews construct two bridges for the Mon/Fayette Expressway in Jefferson Hills. Single-lane restrictions on Route 51 could happen both northbound and southbound between Worthington Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard throughout construction. Crews will be utilizing the single-lane closure only as needed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. until construction is completed in the area, which is expected to be October 2026. Head to Whitehall Public Library’s community room at 10 a.m. June 1 for a cozy coffee chat with Whitehall Police Chief Jason Gagorik. In the two-part program, Gagorik will provide a history of the borough’s police department followed by a chance for real talk about any questions or concerns you have about your neighborhood and safety. The event is free and registration is avilable online at whitehallpubliclibrary.org.
