Part of Prospect Road closed this month
Prospect Road in Baldwin Borough is closed between Beryl Drive and the entrance to the Carapel Townhouses, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.
The closure is expected to end in October and will be followed by periodic single-lane closures through November.
The restrictions are needed for slope stabilization work. That includes installation of a rock embankment, a concrete barrier, erosion and sedimentation controls and pavement markings, as well as excavation, drainage repairs, clearing and grubbing, milling and paving.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured using East Willock Road and Streets Run Road. During the periodic single-lane closures, traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Nearby residents will have access to their homes at all times.

SHIM’s first virtual fundraiser a success
South Hills Interfaith Movement hosted its first-ever virtual fundraiser, Celebrate the South Hills with SHIM @home, on Sept. 9.
Because of covid-19 social distancing restrictions, the typically in-person event was hosted virtually.
The evening included a silent auction with mobile bidding and appearances by notable neighbors.
By the end of the evening, SHIM had raised $140,222 from its donors, volunteers and community members and honored locals Joe and Lynn Smith for their dedication to the South Hills.
