Jefferson Hills to demolish 3 blighted properties with help from grant funding
Jefferson Hills officials are seeking grant funding to demolish three blighted properties.
Structures at 102 Arch St., 2265 State St. and 3012 Hawk Alley were deemed unsafe and need to be torn down, according to borough officials. The estimated cost is $56,000.
Council unanimously voted April 12 to authorize South Hills Area Council of Governments to apply for a $47,600 grant with the borough covering the remaining $8,400.
It is unclear when the demolition would go out for bid and the project would be awarded.
In other matters, council:
• Awarded $105,400 security camera and access control contract to David Davis Communications. There will be new cameras and related electronics installed in the borough and public works buildings.
• Reappointed Maryjay Rush to the Police Civil Service Commission to a term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
• Appointed Tim Mulvihill to the recreation board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2023.
• Appointed Kevin Polick to the planning commission steering committee.
The borough also seeks to hire two public works laborers. Those interested in the positions can call the borough office at 412-655-7735.
