Giovanna Barone, 8, organized a dress-down fundraiser to support her service project for her pageant title, Miss Pennsylvania Sweetheart. With the help of her classmates at St. Gabriel School in Whitehall, Barone collected art supplies, puzzles, stuffed animals, blankets and more to make gift bags. Together with her classmates, she raised more than $500 and 10 boxes of supplies, according to her mother, Megan Pavlik.

Before the holidays, Barone dropped the items off at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, various children’s organizations and local dementia units.
