No one was injured in an early-morning fire in Bethel Park on Monday, according to fire authorities.

Emergency crews were called shortly after 3:30 a.m. to a home in the 700 block of McMurray Road.

Crews found smoke billowing from the two-story home but were able to knock the fire down quickly. All of the residents escaped, authorities said.

An initial investigation showed the fire started near the fireplace/chimney, and fire officials took the opportunity to remind property owners to have fireplaces inspected every year.

The fire marshal will determine an official cause.

McMurray Road was partially closed between Hollydale Drive and Hays Road in Peters, but it has since reopened.

Fire crews from several neighboring municipalities responded, including Bethel Park Police Department, Tri-Community South EMS, Mt. Lebanon Fire Department and The Upper St Clair Volunteer Fire Department.

The incident was cleared shortly after 6 a.m.
