South Fayette Park and Ride to close permanently July 4
The Park and Ride in South Fayette Township, located at the former Star City property on Hickory Grade Road, will close permanently on July 4.
According to a post on the South Fayette website, the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s 31-Bridgeville and G31-Bridgeville Flyer no longer will serve the lot in South Fayette. No other stops will be missed.
Burns & Scalo has purchased the property.
“This was never meant to be permanent, but it’s certainly been convenient for residents while it was there,” said Andrea Iglar, director of communications and community development for South Fayette.
She said that the property will become a mixed use shopping center with restaurants, retail and maybe some offices. She added that Burns & Scalo is currently working through the planning and zoning approval, and that more details will be available once the company goes in front of the board of commissioners for approval.
The Port Authority continues to look for alternate parking options in the area, according to a press statement.
Other options to park are located at the South Hills Village garage, with a daily fee of $2 a day or $22 a month. The Woodville Park and Ride in Carnegie also is served by the 31-Bridgeville and G31-Bridgeville Flyer, though it quickly fills to capacity on weekday mornings.
Iglar said that Burns & Scalo will begin site preparation later this summer.
