Part of Prospect Road in Baldwin to close

Prospect Road will close from Streets Run Road to about 400 feet north of Streets Run Road in Baldwin Borough starting at 7 a.m. June 8, according to a news release from the Allegheny County Department of Public Works. The closure, which is expected to last about one week, will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays. It is required to help stabilize a landslide area via removal of loose soil and rock, construction of a flat step-like area to catch any future debris, and grading to improve runoff drainage.

Traffic will be detoured using East Willock Road and Streets Run Road. A northbound lane closure due to another landslide on Prospect Road near Beryl Drive, which is controlled by a traffic signal, will remain in place during this closure.

The southbound lane of Prospect Road has been closed at the landslide site since March 23.

PRC online webinars

The Pennsylvania Resources Council is moving its Summer 2020 schedule of workshops to online webinars.

“Individuals taking part in the Backyard Composting and Watershed Awareness/Rain Barrel webinars will receive composting bins and rain barrels following the webinars, so at this time we’re conducting these webinars for individuals living in southwestern Pennsylvania so they can drive to a bin pick-up site a week or two following the webinars,” said PRC Education Specialist Nancy Martin. “A free Recycling & Waste Reduction webinar is open to people living throughout Pennsylvania.”

Backyard Composting will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 8, 9 and 16.

Watershed Awareness will take place 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 11, 15 and 15.

Bin distribution is by appointment from 3-6 p.m June 23 in South Park.

To register for a PRC webinar, visit www.prc.org/programs/webinars or call 412-977-6146.
