Baldwin High School’s ASL Club has received a $13,700 grant from the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) to underwrite programming to encourage young people to pursue careers in special education. Through a series of community workshops, guest speakers, career counseling and mentorship programs, the ASL club will provide students insight into the many fulfilling careers in special education, including ASL interpretation and teaching students who are deaf/hard of hearing.

“By incorporating these strategies into the ASL Club, students can gain valuable knowledge and insight into career options in special education and feel empowered to pursue their interests in this rewarding field,” said Marissa Gallagher, director of student services for Baldwin-Whitehall School District.

Anna Kisner has enrolled at James Madison University for the fall 2024 semester. Kisner is majoring in business management.

Isabella Boehm, a graduate of Baldwin Senior High School, worked this summer as a costume intern with Sight and Sound while studying fashion: costume design at Albright College.

Soliana Porter is one of the more than 620 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the spring 2024 semester with gold stars. Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students at The Citadel who achieved a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Cadets and students who achieve gold star recognition are also placed on The Citadel’s dean’s list.

Matthew Weis was named to the dean’s list for the summer 2024 term at the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Gagan Phuyal has been named to the spring 2024 dean’s list at Berea College.

Randel Laslo entered Kutztown University in the fall as the newest member of the Golden Bear family.
