South Hills student achievements for the week of March 26, 2024
Becca Murray, a sociology major at Grove City College, has been named to the dean’s list with distinction for the fall 2023 semester. She is a 2020 graduate of Baldwin High School and is the daughter of Dean and Amy Murray.
Anthony Barry, Madison Fiorentini, Alexys Wagner and Madeleine White made the dean’s list at Thiel College for the fall 2023 semester.
Jaidan Fahrny, Rachael Hofmann and Aysha Dursunova made the dean’s list at the Rochester Institute of Technology for the fall 2023 semester.
Crista Sucevich and Jack Wessel graduated from Coastal Carolina University in December 2023.
Isabella Boehm was the production team’s costume technician for the spring 2024 Albright College Theatre production of “The Revolutionists,” performed Feb. 22-25 in the Albright College Center for the Arts Theatre. A graduate of Baldwin High School, Boehm is studying fashion: costume design.
Megan Rozanski was named to the dean’s list at Wilkes University for the fall 2023 semester.
Erin Henley graduated cum laude from Commonwealth University-Mansfield in December 2023.
Baldwin High School senior Kavya Odari immigrated to the United States from Nepal as a refugee when she was 4 years old. She was frequently bullied when she was young and launched a line of beauty products with an inclusive message. When not growing her business, she volunteers with a variety of local service organizations. Her business savvy and community spirit earned her inclusion in Junior Achievement’s 18 under Eighteen, which recognizes and celebrates young trailblazers by providing nationally recognized leadership training, local media recognition and real-world opportunities like mentorships, scholarships and internships. After she graduates, Odari plans to attend college majoring in business and law.
Aaron Beatty made the dean’s list at the University of Albany for the fall 2023 semester.
Luke Pletz was inducted to the 13th class of Sheetz Fellows on Feb. 24. A competitive academic program, Sheetz Fellows offers unique opportunities that ignite and inspire the entrepreneurial mindset of students at Penn State Altoona. Sheetz Fellows receive a $5,000 scholarship during their junior year and a $10,000 scholarship during their senior year, in addition to other numerous leadership and travel opportunities.
Preston Zandier, Elena Zandier and Kieran Schmidt made the president’s list at Youngstown State University for the fall 2023 semester. Cassandra Carlson and Tyler Downey made the dean’s list.
The Scholastic Art Awards are a regional art competition where schools from the area compete in a variety of categories. The work is judged by local artists, professors, gallery owners, art directors and critics. The following Baldwin High School students were awarded Silver Keys in Drawing and Illustration & Ceramics as well as Honorable Mentions in Photography, Drawing and Ceramics:
