Thomas Jefferson High School senior Anthony Sparta has been selected a National Merit Scholarship finalist.
Sparta ranks among the top one percent of all U.S. high school seniors who completed the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) in 2020. Sparta has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction by the College Board, is president of the TJHS STEM Club, and a member of the National Honor Society, Varsity Academic League, AP Humanities and History Clubs and the Mock Trial team. He also is a member of the varsity boys tennis team.
Sparta recently was awarded a full-tuition, room and board scholarship to Saint Vincent College, valued at more than $200,000. He was the first-place winner in the college’s 41st annual Wimmer Scholarship competition. He plans to study chemistry at Saint Vincent.
Jacob Kwolek graduated from Youngstown State University in December 2021 with a bachelor of engineering in manufacturing engineering.
Ryan Collins was named to the Dean’s List at Susquehanna University for the fall 2021 semester. Collins is majoring in accounting.
Robert Graham graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic with a doctor of chiropractic degree in February 2022.
Cullen Vereb participated in the University of Mount Union’s MLK Day of Service on Jan. 22. Nearly 300 volunteers worked at 10 locations, completing projects for area agencies and churches.
Emma Turnbull has earned a $17,000 annual Dean’s Scholarship to Albright College in Reading, Pa. Currently attending Baldwin High School, Turnbull is interested in studying psychology: child development; child and family studies and/or psychology in college.
